Texas Holdem Poker is the simplest poker game online making it very suitable for all novice players out there. Each player needs to put up blinds and antes to get the play started. These would depend on the limit and betting structure per game. Betting structure refers to the money feature of the play while the limit as the word itself connotes, is the limit of the bets that one can place.

THE BETTING LIMITS

A high limit betting game of Texas Holdem Poker means that the game involves high amounts of money while a low limit betting structure suggests that the game is one where lower stakes are involved. There is also a scheme called fixed limit or structured limit. In this scheme, an amount for each bet is already fixed. Another betting limit is the spread limit wherein you are allowed to bet within the range of any given amount. A pot limit is when one can place a bet in anywhere from the amount of the larger blind and the amount that is currently in the pot during any of the betting rounds. In the half pot limit, you can bet between the cost of the big blind and half the size of the pot money on any betting round. In the no limit betting structure, you are allowed to bet any amount between the cost of the big blind and the amount of money that you placed on the table on any betting round.

THE GAME

Blinds and antes are first placed, this is called the posting. A deck of 52 cards is then shuffled by the dealer. Each person is given two playing cards facing down they are called the pocket cards or hole cards. The preflop betting round would then start which should be commenced by the person to the left of the blinds. Each player may call, fold or raise. The dealer would then remove the top card of the deck after all the betting is done. This card is called the bum card. Three cards are then flipped on the table. These cards called the flop cards could be used by the players to join with their two hole cards in order to form a poker hand. The player located on the dealer’s left side would start another betting round. The dealer then flips another card called the turn. Another betting ensues after which, a new card is flipped, and this card is called the river. Any player may either use the five cards on the table or their hole cards to get a five poker hand. A last round of betting will happen. The players who did not fold will then show their cards in the showdown portion and the player who has the best hand will win the round.
