Seven Card Stud Rules
The seven card stud poker is just a variation of the famous stud poker. Seven card poker was one of the most popular poker games in United States until the recent rise to popularity of Texas Holdem Poker. In this type of poker game, it is usual to find two to even eight players playing in one game. An eight player game is highly possible because there is a presumption that most players are experienced enough when to flop or call a bet.
THE GAME
In the seven card stud poker, before the players are dealt with their cards, there is a need to put an ante into the pot. After the ante is placed, the dealer would then give each player two cards each faced down called hole cards and the one card is face up which is called the door card. If the game is played with bring-in, player with lowest door card will pay bring-in, this is what is called as the forced bet and the game shall proceed in the normal clockwise order afterwards. If in case there has been no bring in during the play, the first round of betting will then be commenced by player with highest ranking faced up card. Breaking a tie by suit is not allowed if there is no bring in; instead, the one positioned in the first clockwise rotations from dealer should commence the betting.
If any of your hole cards are dealt by the dealer, then this means that your third card should be dealt face down by the dealer. If both hole cards are dealt up, then you are entitled to receive your bet back.
A card is then removed from the top deck of the seven card stud poker to ensure that there is no cheating. This is called the burn card. Each player is then dealt with another face up card. Another betting round happens which is to be started by player with best poker hand with the face up cards. For this purpose, one should take note that no straights, full houses or flushes will count as there are only two cards that are face up. From this round to the next rounds of betting, player with best poker hand through his up cards shall start the betting and he may either check or raise his bet to the bet limit in the game. Take note, when a hand is folded without any wager, such player will continue receiving cards until it is killed by a bet.
A third up card is then dealt to the each player and another betting round will ensue afterwards. A fourth up card is again dealt to the each player and another round of betting will follow. Each player would then be given a face down card and the fifth betting round will then take place. There would be a subsequent showdown if the game proves it necessary to have one. In the showdown, every player that has not folded is entitled to show their hands beginning first from the bettor himself.
