Poker Room Named after Phil Ivey Now Open

Full Tilt Poker pro Phil Ivey is going to have a poker room named after him at a Las Vegas casino and the casino has now opened the new poker room. The Aria Resort and Casino in City Center opened the new poker room on May 22nd. The new room is a high stakes poker room and is named the Ivey Room after Full Tilt Poker pro Phil Ivey.
The new room will have just one table but the accommodations of the room will be for the high rollers. Flat screen televisions, direct access to the cashiers as well as private access and complimentary table side dining and beverage service will all be customary at the new poker room.
The Aria hosted a $1 million free roll on the 22nd to get the party started in the new poker room. The winner of the event took home $250,000. Second place earned $70,000 while the top eight players earned a payday.
Phil Ivey competed in the event and the winner of the event will get to play against Ivey in heads up play to earn another $250,000. The president of the Aria Phil McBeath commented in the Las Vegas Review-Journal: “We were thrilled that Phil agreed when we asked if he would consider putting his name on the room”.
Several players have poker rooms named after them and Ivey is the most recent player to have a room named in his honor. The poker pro is a seven time World Series of Poker bracelet winner and he earned his highest finish ever in the main event last year when he finished in 7th place earning $1.4 million dollars.
