The Full Tilt Online Poker Series XVI finished up just a few days ago and the Main Event of the series say over 4,500 players competing for the first place prize. the event had a buy-in of $640 and even though a large number of competitors signed up for the event, the tournament still did not meet its guaranteed prize pool.

$3 million dollars was guaranteed for the event but Full Tilt had to pony up $300,000 to meet the guarantee. Annette Obrestad, the newest team member at Full Tilt, hosted the event. joining her at the table were many Full Tilt pros but the only pros to earn a cash prize were Vitalay Lunkin, Scott Clements and James Akenhead.

Once the tournament got down to five handed play, all players involved decided to make a deal. The deal would guarantee each player $200,000 and then money was left over for each player to win more as they placed in the tournament.

In the end it was online player Kirbynator who earned the gold jersey and first place win but he was not the highest paid player in the tournament. the largest prize amount went to apalma who finished second and took home $342,851.96, about $15,000+ more than the first place finisher. Third place went to online player DaHussstla who earned $342,296.75. cutting the deal allowed all five players a nice payday which I’m sure was exciting for all involved.

Now the MiniFTOPS XVI has kicked off and players are starting to compete in the various events. Each event is similar to the FTOPS events but they have a smaller buy-in and offer smaller prizes.
